We're back... I think... x)

Okay, finally I've worked up the determination to post here once more :D Well, as you've no doubt read, we've been really busy with projects, tests and various other stuff. However, to be honest, I'd also run out of things to comment on (in my oh-so-neutral way) since we'd covered nearly every aspect of Ms Chen et al already.

Anyway, reading the comments I felt spurred to at least come up with a token post, so here it is (:

To start off, this is going to be about her friendster(s). [The one she linked was at http://profiles.friendster.com/celestechen7] The first thing that struck me was the colour scheme, then the picture/intro and finally, everything else. The big question is: why does anyone need 7 friendster accounts in the first place? (I'm not sure about the number, but...)

I think it was in the Sunday Times a couple of week back, where the reporter classified a few kinds of Facebook users, one of which was the "Face Collector". What's the point of having a few thousand 'friends', most of which you've never met, or met only once? It's a kind of self-assurance thing, I guess, just to prove to yourself (and *legasp* everyone else) that you're as popular as you think you are. I have to admit, I myself do add second degree friends on occasion, if I meet them at some outing or other with mutual friends. The indiscriminate adding, however, is nothing if not completely useless and retarded.

Moving on, I found the colour scheme of her 7th friendster page extremely glaring. Red and black isn't a bad combination, mind... but top that up with the big red girl, the glaring white adverts and her cam-whored pictured, and gosh. One of the first principles of blogging or any other internet media is ease of reception. What's the point of having your own website if you make you pictures teeny, your words amputated and your english broken until all the kings horses and all the kings men...

In this case, the red, black and white aren't remotely attractive or patriotic, and the only time it can be described as eye catching is if you qualify that more as a gouging or raping of your visual receptors. Forgive the bimbotic language; Glare: much.

Next, if I hadn't been reading her occasionally for the past couple of months, the impression I would have gotten from her blog would be slutty. Camwhoring is all fine and dandy in some cases, but not when you sluttify yourself (multiple times) and slap it all over the internet. It's kind of a turn-off, contrary to whatever she may think, because it gives a really bad impression. Oh yes, and don't forget the wonderful bio-summary: "Lick it up,lick it down, lick it all the way around." (Nuff said)

Looking at her profile was even worse, because I personally felt it was a stain on the Singaporean image. I'm no patriotic saint, government agent nor idealistic do-good. However, just reading those few lines of text made me want to hide my face in shame for outsiders who read it. Let us take a look at what she wrote..

Schools(Other):
Light house, St Hilda's Primary, WRPS, Celeste Rocks Secondary :D [The day such a school comes into existence, I swear I will migrate.]

Occupation:

Xubin's girlfriend :D [Even me, in all my hormone-crazed teenaged years know that there is more to life than posing and getting laid. If her only value is in being a consort, I have to apologise on behalf of the Feminist movement, because it's likely they don't have drills long enough to get through her skull. On the other hand, maybe it's just her.]

Hobbies and Interests:

Dancing, Playing the piano, Painting my pretty nails, Making pretty things, Jumping around in circles, Tapping someone's shoulder and running away, Rolling on the floor, Cam-whoring, Coughing at tiven's face, Dance the chicken dance while showering

[Ye gods, a lot to say over here, but most of it you can probably guess. Even yours truly, who is very susceptible to flashes of childish nostalgia, has the decency not to flash myself to the world. It is now partially explained why so much makeup is needed for Ms Chen's use, since her skin is unnaturally thick.]

Favorite Books:

Powerpuff girls [:

[Again, we view her monstrous intellect. I don't have any issue with people of average IQ or below at all (in fact it's mostly those with high IQs I tend to argue with), but this is just a disgrace, no? I think my toddler nephew has a more enriching range of reading material than this.]

Favorite Movies:

Mean girls, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen [No prizes for guessing where she gets her role models from]

Favorite Music:

Linsay Lohan, Avril Lavigne, Ashlee Simpson, Fergie, Christina Aguilera, Girls Aloud, Blink 182, Pussycat Dolls, Danity Kane, Pink, Paris Hilton, Sean Paul, Stacie Orrico, McFly, Mika, Mandy Moore, Nelly Furtado, Tatu, Good Charlotte, Backstreet Boys, Atomic Kittens, Kelly Clarkson, Cascada, Cassie, Hilary Duff, Akon, M2m, A*Teens, Missy Elliot, Gwen Stefani, Black Eyed Peas, Shakira & Many more.

[Pop artistes, by and large. Not a bad lot, I like some of their songs, but to be devoted wholesale to each and every 'up and coming' name for the past couple of years says much about the malleability of the subject. Try something that hasn't been audio-slutted into your ears, for once.]

Zodiac Sign:

Aries

About Me:

Lick it up,
lick it down,

lick it all the way around. [Nothing to be said here.]

Who I Want to Meet:

For you I'm a fanatic.
I'm an addict.

Your sexy antics turn me on like automatic, No need to get dramatic.
But I gotta have it.

Lets get dirrrty
It sounds so good ;)

[I don't know where she got this, but it sounds like song lyrics. Again, the choice of words speaks volumes.]

Oh, and she's a member in two groups I LOVE CC and I HATE CC. Bipolar or split personality? I think not. More like self-obsession.

Overall, the friendster(s) gave me a really bad impression of her, despite my wonderfully neutral stance :D What's the moral of the story? Please don't be like her, for the good of your image, and that of our oh-so-fine country x)

I hope that's managed to sate you guys somewhat, or at least raise an issue. Either ways, I tried my best >< Do feel free to propose (intellectual!) topics on her that can be commented on, to aid us in our search for things to write about. On the other hand, please no pure flamers and such, because we don't want this blog to catch fire entirely, now do we?

EDIT: I nearly forgot. Flamers, please refer to J's list of explanations in an earlier post. No, we're not all girls.

Smiles, (happy Sept hols)

hamletztz!

T’ b, or not t’ b,—tt is t qn:—
Whether is like my pretty hair to sufferzrz
T slingz & arrwzwz of infamy
Or t take armszsz against a sea of comments
And by deleting end them?—To die,—to sleep,—
No more; and by a blog to say we chioz

FYI, that is what Hamlet's famous soliloquy would look like if he had Ms Chen's concerns (and grammer/spelling).

Hear ye! Hear ye! Today ProfG shall be giving a concise lecture on our beloved Celeste's language and netiquette. First, let us examine the purpose of a blog.

"Blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject such as food, politics, or local news; some function as more personal online diaries... ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs"

Well, our favourite blog doesn't really seem to cover much of that, now, does it? On the other hand, I can't fault her for using it as a personal blog, because that's what I myself do; but could I please request Ms Chen writes in a format understandable to humans? It would be terribly nice if we could look at her blog and read (if not grammatical english) some words which we don't have to double back to understand.

For example, "b and i went t th lib... den b went home t change den come & meet me again". There's nothing wrong with certain shortforms or buzzwords, mind, but to have 1/5 of every sentence invisible to the human eye is a bit much, don't you think?

I'm not asking her to become a cambridge-speaking don, cos that's going overboard, but... It just takes a modicum of time to type the 'he's in the 'the's, a single key-stroke to add a 'o' to the 'to's, and a bit of effort to make her blogposts more than one-line stream-of-consciousness eruptions of fluff.

"den we fetched b from his school
den off t my house t slacked
den remus came ..
den left.."

Now, on to the wonderful subject of Netiquette. Or might I say, on to our subject's wonderful Netiquette, or lack thereof. It's not particularly terrifying, per se- at least she doesn't type in CAPS LIKE THIS or uSe StUpId StYlEs. No, I refer to her tendency to delete every remotely negative comment.

To ignore a negative comment is still passable, or to ban a user who spams flaming comments; but to prune your comments to the extent that everyone says 'you damn prettyz! i want to sex you! teach me how to do my hair!' is a bit much.

Thank god, at least, that she isn't able to spot sacarsm x) Just take a peek at her comments and bask in some of the wonderful double-meanings. No prizes to anyone who can slip in something like "I LOVE you hair! It's so... PRETTY luhh, ALL boys wanna f*** you, ALL girls wanna be you!!!! <3333"

Anyways, as per usual, FLAMERS please refer to J's nice compiled list of responses. I have to rush off to do homework now. Hmm, maybe this whole post is rubbish, because I'm "stupid elitist stuck up prick-ish"? But then again, maybe it isn't

have a nice morning,

A compilation for Celeste supporters

mmm. so many comments against this blog and defending Celeste.

This is a compilation for Celeste supporters. We urge Celeste supporters to read the following before repeating the exact same points, and wasting everyone else's time. We do understand that other than repeating your points you will hardly have anything else to say, but as this is our blog, we hope to eradicate stupidity and wish you all will comply.

"By creating this blog, you gave celeste more fame? and that's definitely what she wanted."
First, let me correct you. Celeste cannot have more fame, because she never had any fame to start with.
This has been answered long ago, so dear celeste supporters, stop repeating this and do not let us think that you have run out of points!
"let me pose this question to you: do you think all fame is equivalent to good fame? clearly you've mistook the definition. Judging by the ratio of people who claim they hate celeste to those who don't (note: poll), she's not entirely "popular".
and besides, for people to click on the link to visit/comment on this blog, majority of them would have had prior recognition of celeste anyway."

"why not open your own personal blog, and blog normally, then win her daily readers over to your blog."
Like G has said, we do have our own personal blogs. We are not intending to win daily readers over.

"but it seems like you ppl are envying her because she is famous than anyone of you here."
for the last time, we don't envy her.
envy - a feeling of discontent or covetousness with regard to another's advantages, success, possessions, etc.
discontent - not content; dissatisfied; discontented.
covetousness - eagerly desirous.
by this definitions, we can assure you we are not envious, because she has no advantages, success, or possessions at all, for us to be dissatisfied and eagerly desirious.

"but down here you are like a bunch of losers, thinking about celeste chen day and night, trying to get all the attention through opening a hater blog."
we're not trying to get all the attention. YOU are giving us the attention. neither do we think about celeste chen day and night for fear of brain damage.

"this is the most stupid resort to put celeste down."
the very fact that this had drawn much debate and opened new insights show that it is incredibly effective. if effectiveness equates with stupidity, than your vocabulary is very effective indeed.

"you made me feel like reading her blog everyday, because i wanna find out why ppl hate her so much."

there's so many people that dislike her, this isn't the only avenue for you to find out about her.

"got your blog from xiaxue's. HONESTLY, not in favour of anyone or anything. but a bit of irony? you said her blog sucks. so i was half expecting you to throw insults at her more previous blogposts. but you actually brought up her very recent blogposts to show that you are in fact, updated on her blog. so... you read it often? &in one part, you told her to get a life. well, she's actually blogging abt her own life &doing her own thing. &you're the ones who seem to have nth else better to do but this? im seriously not some "fan". but i'm just saying. like- if you wna get at someone. maybe something more constructive than the usual "you suck", "you're ugly" or "you're stupid". whoever you guys are, you definitely sound smarter than this.""
in response, as L has said:
"But you see, liking someone is not a prerequisite for wanting to read her blog. As illustrated here, we read Celeste because we (uhm secretly!) revel in her obnoxiousness, because we think she's amusing (not particularly interesting nor enlightening, but amusing all the same). And, as matthew so aptly put it, we have to be updated on the object of our hate! "

"err. hello? if you don't know her personally, don't judge her. she's quite different from who ya all think she is. don't judge a person by her appearance. your mama never teach you that uh! noob can? haha. and, just wanna say that you should spent your time studying. stop poking your noses into her life. its HER life, not yours. she can live it the way she wants. yeah. so get a life ya? (:"
for the umpteenth time, we're not judging her by what she does in reality, we're judging her by the way she acts on the internet. neither do we poke our noses into her life, it's just her attitude we can't take. and its OUR writing, not YOURS. we can write it the way we want.

"omg. if you hate celeste so much why still open a blog and blog about her. go her blog non stop. and its really funny.. you guys dont know her you cant judge her like this. you say what by her face.. omfg.. you stupid or what. how to judge by a face.. its so obvious you guys are just finding fought with her. and going to her blog everyday? even her new video also you straight upload. ohmy what losers.why not show us your faces :) why still hide behind the com and blog about people. coz you pple are not as daring as her. you pple are just jealous that she dares to do what she likes and you cant. if you dare to blog about her. why not dare to show your faces too. coward dogs. do you actually think celeste give a shiat? more like you are giving her more fame.. making her more like a star.. just think about it. hate her den ignore her.. why still come blog about her non stop and all. more like you are her fucking fan. dont say no.

1) you always visit her blog
2) watch her videos
3) check if anynew updated pics or videos are uploaded
4) open a blog and talk about her

you are wasting your time blogging about her. WHAT JOKES.

you pple dare. show us your faces lah. at least she dare to scold pple and show her faces _|_

losers man. really .. ohmy .
anyway this blog is also reported to the police station already :) and they are searching for the IP address coz this is internet bully btw. :D

GOODLUCK!"

"stop saying we cant judge her because we don't know her. we dun care about how she is in real life. we are talking about internet etiquette here. about arrogance, and nauseousness.

show us our faces? oh we were going to do that but the police is checking ip addresses right? so u will find us soon enough!

oh and on ip addresses. u do realise that THE WHOLE OF SINGAPORE'S INTERNET USES PROXIES, do you? its all dynamic IPs, if your "police" haven't noticed.

and in this blog, we don;t cook up fictional stuff. we comment on what she does, we give our opinion, but we don't slander! and we make sure we blog intelligently, and still keep to the law, and still be humourous while we can!

"hate her den ignore her". i see no logic in this! u ignore something when u are apathetic, not when u hate. this is the stupidest line of logic all celeste's fans have! as pointed out, proper bloggers like xiaxue (and we) accept criticisms.

btw, feel free to go http://statutes.agc.gov.sg/ This is the proper official law of Singapore."

J
Yet again, I've been pulled of homework to post here. (because, as you know, I'm the neutral one)

Recently, as you may or may not have noticed, the authors of this blog were accused and threatened by an anonymous person in a comment. Let us examine it as follows:

(and I quote)

omg. if you hate celeste so much why still open a blog and blog about her. go her blog non stop. and its really funny.. you guys dont know her you cant judge her like this. you say what by her face.. omfg.. you stupid or what. how to judge by a face.. its so obvious you guys are just finding fought with her. and going to her blog everyday? even her new video also you straight upload. ohmy what losers.why not show us your faces :) why still hide behind the com and blog about people. coz you pple are not as daring as her. you pple are just jealous that she dares to do what she likes and you cant. if you dare to blog about her. why not dare to show your faces too. coward dogs. do you actually think celeste give a shiat? more like you are giving her more fame.. making her more like a star.. just think about it. hate her den ignore her.. why still come blog about her non stop and all. more like you are her fucking fan. dont say no.

(endquote)

Well, first off, definitions for today's debate.

Internet Bullying *aka cyber bullying*: "bullying intends to cause emotional distress and has no legitimate purpose... threats, sexual remarks, pejorative labels (i.e., hate speech). They may attempt to assume the identity of a victim for the purpose of publishing material in their name that defames or ridicules them." (Wikipedia, 2007)

My three main points of contention are: 1) Is this blog a cyber-bullying blog? 2) Is this anonymous person a righteous critic? 3) Does his accusation/ threat stand? [Debaters out there, excuse the poor organisation, I'm new]

On to the first point of contention, whether this blog is in fact bullying Celeste.

We say this is not true, because we have not fulfilled the criteria of cyber bullying. On a most basic level, this blog does not fulfill the criteria for a cyber-bullying blog because it does have a purpose. As mentioned, " we're making a statement about the nature of many similar girls on the internet". As has been proven many times over, blogs can be used as a viable form of expression or critique, citing some examples such as Mr. Brown. This blog holds legitimate views which we to express, without going overboard and doing such drastic things as sending her hate mail, or other forms of 'bullying'.

Even if this blog falls into the catagory of cyber-bullying, we say that there is no viable way of ending such "cyber-bullying" by people of the world, unless governments/ law-enforcement agencies world-wide decide to shut down the internet in its entirety. There are simply too many of such blogs.

Furthermore, if a government can enforce such laws, other opinion/expression-driven bloggers like XiaXue would also have to be taken in. Even the 'anonymous' (and might I say, contradicting) person would have to be taken in, with his choice of commenting on our blog, which brings me to my second point.

Is this person a righteous and honest to goodness critic?

We say no, because a true critic would not sink to such vulgar means as this anonymous commentor has done. True, every person has the right to express to him/her-self, but as the government has constantly reminded us, this must be done responsibly, not through insults, ridicule and threats.

Even if this commentor does have a justified opinion, and the best interests of Celeste at heart, we say that through his vulgar means he has negated his right to expression, because he is doing exactly what he says we are doing. He has remained anonymous "not... show[ing] face", and insulted us collectively, with no evidence, judging us "...by face", and using defamatory and vulgar words like "jokes", "f***" and "coward dogs".

Furthermore, if what he says is true, and his point does stand, we say that he can by right be counter-sued or taken in by the police as well because he has (ironically) done everything, and some (threatening), that he himself has deemed 'internet bullying'. We think that this person does not infact hold a righteous view, or others' best interests at heart, but instead merely wishes to make a fool of himself in public by acting so dishonourably.

To my last point, and in conclusion, whether his threat/accusation stands

We say that it does not for two main reasons. First, as we have proven, because we have not fulfilled the criteria of 'internet bullying'. Second, we think it is unlikely that someone would have so carelessly chosen to do something so rash as to report us, because something like that has a variety of ill-effects, for both parties involved (especially because of his comment).

Even if it stands, we say that the chance of enforcement is reduced, because he (and countless others) has done exactly the same thing; if the police followed every threat, we would be getting robbed everyday because there wouldn't be any left to man the streets. We have also already proven that this blog holds legitimate views, and critiques the real and existing trend of so-called 'bimbo' bloggers.

Furthermore, if push comes to shove, we are prepared to face the consequences, because we know that expression of our opinions in the right way (albeit perhaps being a bit over-critical) is justified, and can be defending in a judicially-strong country like Singapore.

At the end of the day what have I proved to you? First, that this isn't an internet-bully blog in the first place. Next, that the anonymous commentor does not, in fact, have a righteous opinion to voice, and thus ought not hold weight with us. Last, that his threat cannot stand in the eyes of logic.

Thanks for reading (if you did, else you just scrolled to the bottom, hmm?)
ProfG

bunnies and papayas.

Random musing: Celeste treats Poopooji (the poor rabbit) like Xubin. She hauls it about the place, and makes it camwhore. See the comparability? Yeah.

(he looks pretty pissed here)

I'm posting because I feel extremely proud of Celeste today. She actually attempted (note: attempted) to reply to a negative comment! Seeing I've been banned from the comments board, I can't actually offer my commentary on her blog itself, so I shall do it here.

"one of the comments above said people who hate you are dumb. but i'm cooler and prettier than you and i still hate you. because you're fake. you're not really that cool and you're actually quite ugly. even by asian standards.

reply.
oh okay. show your pic.. let us see den why dont dare put your real name and url? your face must be damn fucked up. i think your parents face were like spastic .. if you say youre hotter den come and show me your pic lah. anyway i also never say im cool nor pretty. .. jealous fucker"

That brave soul! we were all so weary after a great deal of our comments faced obliteration. Although the above comment lacks a bit of logic, I must say the argument is still something worth contending. That that:
a) Celeste isn't really that pretty considering standards of beauty nowadays (especially with all that vulgarity of expression, ugh. Perhaps she doesn't know that ugly thoughts and speech create an ugly person).
b) Not everyone who dislikes her is an "ugly fucker".

Well, I give credit to Celeste for going insofar as to not deleting the comment, and replying to it (oh yeah, yeah we all know how extremely busy she is). However, Celeste appears to possess the rationality of a... a papaya (that's not saying much. I can't think of an appropriate fruit/inanimate object). Anonymity does not equate to ugliness! She's never given thought to the fact that perhaps people who dislike her don't want to give their true identities simply because she'll cut them off from her blog, make sure she jeers at them appropriately, or do god knows what. That's called being dense, Celeste.

And, eww, jealous?! I, for one, do not dislike her out of sheer jealousy (it's more like revulsion, you know?). And to "i also never say im cool nor pretty", CELESTE WAKE UP. LOOK AT THE EXPRESSION OF PURE SMUGNESS ON YOUR FACE; is that not evidence enough to show what an overbearing conceited witch you are?! And other things, of course, but I shan't state the obvious.

Also, Celeste mentioned that negative comments don't affect her at all. Well, if that were true, she wouldn't delete them, neither would she be so (illogically) defensive as shown in the above reply. Ah, Celeste, that's called being CONSCIOUS of them. Ever thought of why xiaxue doesn't delete hate comments and why she acknowledges their presence? That's indifference to what people say about you. Because it shows you don't really care if people hate you, you accept it, and you don't need to delete negative comments to show that you're a wonderful person. I think, Celeste, that if you really would like to be more endearing to people, you'd actually want to show that you're a real person with emotions, flaws, idiosyncrasies. Because now you seem really hard and artificial. So please, think about it.

But let's not veer off to reproachful bordering emo. Well, let's end off by congratulating Celeste!!! Celeste Chen accepting a slightly negative comment! This must be a BREAKTHROUGH in Celesteland, we should all get a day off or something :D

L.

ps im not flaming her! im praising her.

"so cute right!"
